Basic Training
For Dads-To-Be is a San Diego
based class for expectant fathers where
the teachers are fathers with their
newborn children.
The Goal
of the Class is for the
expectant fathers to leave with a
better understanding of their role
in labor and delivery and to be better
prepared to be active, involved fathers.
Class Overview
- The class usually consists of 10-12
expectant fathers and 2-3 fathers with
their newborn children.
- Expectant fathers have the ability
to hold and interact with infants,
many for the first time.
- The class runs approximately 2.5
hours, giving the expectant fathers
the opportunity to watch new fathers
change, feed, play and soothe their
newborns as they share their birthing
stories.
- The opportunity for expectant fathers
to witness this first hand is an invaluable
boost to becoming an involved father.
In addition to watching fathers interact
with their newborns expectant fathers
can ask any questions at any time about
what they may be observing and address
any fears and issues they may have
about their impending births.
- The relaxed casual style of the class
helps to create a safe environment
for men to express what they are going
through.
